We are so excited to announce our newest community project at Big Room Studios. The Developer-in-Residence program is designed to bring fresh talented high-tech workers to Maine from anywhere in the world. During the residency selected technologists can focus on a new project, or one that they've been keeping on the back burner for too long. Developers can choose to spend 4-7 days with us (or more!) and timing is flexible to accommodate schedules.
A WORKING VACATION FOR TECHNOLOGISTS
Big Room will provide free housing at a beautiful private apartment and access to our work space. Work from the apartment or our offices (when you want free espresso and craft beer on tap). On the weekends explore the incredible adventures Maine has to offer. Swim in the ocean, canoe the lakes and rivers, hike, mountain bike, or just hang out and enjoy the hundreds of breweries in Portland.
In exchange for the accommodations we ask that selected technologists participate in local events like Hack Night, or offer a happy hour talk sharing their expertise with our local community of developers and designers.
THE DETAILS
Available dates tentatively spring of 2019. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting in 2019. Dates will be somewhat flexible. Technologists will be selected and approved based on what projects they are working on, how open they are to engaging with our developer/design community and how self-motivated they will be during their stay. Apply now.
WHY MAINE?
Maine is often talked about as an oasis for high-tech talent. Unlike Silicon Valley or NYC, you can enjoy the quality of life of a small quaint seaside city while still having access to a fantastic and tight-knit tech and startup community. Bring your SO or family and enjoy working in Maine with the full support of Big Room Studios. The perfect opportunity for anyone interested in what it's like to live and work in Portland and the freedom to explore and experience this city with a tema of developers giving you insider tips on the best hikes and IPAs.
