When Dave Aceto and Ben Culver began to plan their new “barcade” (bar + arcade) they reached out to Big Room Studios for assistance with web strategy and design. After discussing different options, they decided that their most immediate need was for branding, to prepare for a Kickstarter campaign and early marketing.
David and Ben worked with the Big Room Studios design team to explore design concepts relating to video games, nostalgia for the ‘80s and ‘90s, and references to Acadia National Park in coastal Maine. Working from about a dozen initial drafts, David, Ben and the BRS team gradually narrowed the focus to a few designs that included their favorite elements from all of the initial options. After settling on a single core design, the team produced several versions to choose from, making sure that the Arcadia National Bar branding reflected the vision, personality, and feel that David and Ben wanted for their business. With their Kickstarter campaign successfully funded, and space secured, Arcadia National Bar opened on Preble Street in Portland in 2014!
